Pay day porn: second edition

Here is my round up of the things I'm lusting after this month. Some I'll purchase, some will stay little more than pay day porn. But it doesn't hurt to look, right? RIGHT?

Suede backpack, £69,99, Mango

Fashion took a serendipitous turn a few years back, when all of a sudden it became perfectly acceptable to dress like our seven year-old selves again. Dungarees? Go for it! Trainers with ankle socks? Knock yourself out! Backpacks? You betcha. The latter means that shoulder welts are now a thing of the past, AND you can wear one without fear of looking like an awkward tourist/year seven on their first day of secondary school. Just feast your eyes on this suede beauty.

Petite coat, £89, Topshop

My coat collection is already pretty extensive, but until recently hadn't included anything of the belted variety. Then last weekend I came across this petite navy number: the exact style I'd been looking for, in a length that wouldn't swamp me – shortarse that I am – and I wasted no time snapping it up. Winter coat sorted!

Stila Waterproof Liner, £13.00, M&S

Getting the perfect cat eye flick is a lifetime pursuit of mine. Rimmel and L'Oreal do some of my high street favourites, but I've heard this waterproof liner from Stila could hold the key to a precise, smudge-proof line. Sadly when I ventured to the M&S at Westfield Stratford (M&S is actually great for niche makeup brands) to make a purchase last week it had all sold out - which can surely mean only good things.

Why not me? – Mindy Kaling, £12.99, Foyles

Following her time as a writer/actor in the US Office (which was cruelly taken down from the UK Netflix only recently), Mindy Kaling went on to create her very own show, The Mindy Project. Getting a show picked up by a major network is no mean feat, and offers you just some idea of what a brilliant woman she is. I loved her debut novel Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And other Concerns) and I'm hoping the follow up will be just as good. Also for life lessons as wise as this: “If I’m at a party where I’m not enjoying myself, I will put some cookies in my jacket pocket and leave without saying goodbye.”

Boots, £29.99, Zara

When it comes to Autumn-wear, Zara is so on the money. My money, mainly. Trousers, skirts, jumpers, shoes...is there nothing it doesn't do well? The shoes have been particularly catching me eye, and this maroon pair of boots look perfect for tramping around on Autumnal walks. Also these brogues. And these low heels. Ok, I might have to wait for next month...

Bella Freud 1970 jumper, £280, Net-a-Porter

Were I to win the lottery, after I'd purchased the obligatory house and car and Caribbean holiday, this would definitely be one of the first designer purchases I made. Bella Freud's designs are quirky (for lack of a better word), but equally as wearable, and one of her 1970 jumpers is top of my wish list.

Stan Smiths, £67, adidas

I first spotted these polka dot Stan Smiths when I was in Stockholm, and I like that they're a twist on the classic green and white design. When it comes to internet shopping, I tend to use my team at work as a focus group. On this occasion, reactions were decidedly mixed...but I think I'm willing to take the looks of disgust from certain co-workers. The women of Man Repeller would be proud.
